Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 28, 2026

Ballroom Brawlers is a fantasy game for people who want to compete head-to-head while watching Dancing with the Stars. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what happens to it when you use ballroombrawlers.com.

The short version

We collect the information needed to create your account, run your brawls, save your picks and results, and keep the site working.

We do not sell your personal information.

We do not use your private brawl activity for behavioural advertising.

Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account, we may collect information such as:

  • Your email address
  • Your name or display name
  • Your profile image, if provided through Google sign-in
  • Your choice of a preset avatar, if you select one
  • Authentication information needed to securely sign you in
  • Your optional mailing preference and when you last saved it

If you use Google to sign in, Google provides us with basic account information according to the permissions shown during sign-in. We do not receive your Google password.

If you sign in using an email verification code, we use your email address to send and verify that code.

You can change your display name, request an email address change, and manage email preferences in My account. Optional news and next-season announcements are off by default; we save that preference for future use and are not sending news emails yet.

When prediction reminders launch, active players with missing predictions can receive one reminder per show, four hours before the saved deadline. Reminders are on unless you turn them off in My account or through the unsubscribe link in any reminder. That link works without signing in and changes only prediction reminders. Sign-in codes and essential account emails are separate.

For reminders, we use your confirmed account email, submission status and reminder preference. We keep a private sending record to prevent duplicates and retry delivery. Your prediction choices and your rival’s information are not included in the email.

Information you add to Ballroom Brawlers

When you use the site, we store information needed to operate your brawls, including things like:

  • Brawl names and invitations
  • Draft selections
  • Predictions
  • Scores and results
  • Brawl status and history
  • Other information you intentionally enter into the service

Brawls are designed to be private between the participating players unless a feature is specifically described as public.

Technical information

Like most online services, our hosting and infrastructure providers may automatically record technical information such as:

  • IP address
  • Browser and device information
  • Pages or services requested
  • Dates and times of requests
  • Error and security logs

We use this information to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve Ballroom Brawlers.

How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • Create and maintain your account
  • Authenticate you securely
  • Create, join, and manage brawls
  • Save drafts, predictions, scores, and results
  • Send account verification and essential service messages
  • Protect the site against abuse, fraud, and unauthorized access
  • Diagnose technical problems
  • Maintain and improve the service
  • Respond to questions or support requests

We do not sell or rent your personal information.

Service providers

Ballroom Brawlers relies on third-party technology providers to operate the service. These may include:

  • Supabase for database, authentication, and backend services
  • Vercel for application hosting, delivery and Web Analytics
  • Ahrefs for website traffic analytics
  • Google when you choose Google sign-in
  • Resend for delivering sign-in emails through Supabase Auth and prediction reminders when enabled
  • Cloudflare for domain and DNS services

These providers may process limited information on our behalf as necessary to provide their services. Their handling of information is also governed by their own privacy policies and terms.

Cookies and local storage

Ballroom Brawlers uses sign-in cookies to maintain your authenticated session. Browser session storage lets a brawl creator copy their invitation link. Your saved game state is stored in our database, not solely in your browser.

We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand site traffic, including page views, referral sources, approximate location, and browser and device types. It provides aggregate statistics without analytics cookies. We remove query strings, invitation tokens and private brawl identifiers from the page URLs we report. We do not send your saved picks or predictions as analytics events.

We also use Ahrefs Web Analytics to understand visits, page views, referral sources and interactions with links and forms. Its standard tracker works without cookies and provides aggregate traffic statistics. Read more about Ahrefs Web Analytics and the information it collects.

We do not use behavioural advertising or cross-site advertising trackers. Read more about Vercel Web Analytics privacy.

How long we keep information

We keep account and brawl information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Ballroom Brawlers and maintain the integrity of the service.

We may retain limited information for longer when necessary for security, legal obligations, fraud prevention, backups, or resolving disputes.

Deleting your account or information

You may request deletion of your account and associated personal information by contacting privacy@ballroombrawlers.com. There is currently no self-service account-deletion screen. Archiving a brawl retains its history and does not delete your account.

Some limited information may remain temporarily in backups or may be retained where required for legitimate security, legal, or operational reasons.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect personal information.

No online service can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping access to your email and Google account secure and for promptly notifying us if you believe your Ballroom Brawlers account has been accessed without permission.

Children's privacy

Ballroom Brawlers is not intended to collect personal information from children who are not legally permitted to consent to the use of an online service in their jurisdiction.

If you believe a child has provided personal information in circumstances where parental or guardian consent was required, please contact privacy@ballroombrawlers.com so we can review and, where appropriate, remove the information.

International processing

Our service providers may process or store information in Canada, the United States, or other countries in which they operate.

As a result, information may be subject to the laws of jurisdictions outside your own.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights relating to your personal information, including the ability to request access, correction, or deletion.

Contact privacy@ballroombrawlers.com to make a privacy request. We may need to verify your identity before processing a request.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Ballroom Brawlers changes.

If we make significant changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice through the service.
